Saving Money This Back to School Season

It’s that time of year again. The time for early nights in bed and even earlier morning wake-ups, extra traffic due to buses and all the parents who take their kids to school (I am that parent), and ultra-expensive school supplies that haven’t gone down in price since you needed them in school yourself … I’m looking at you TI-84 calculator. With all those expenses racking up, Dick’s Sporting Goods is giving you a few ways to save this back to school season.

Price Matching

Remember at Christmastime how you couldn’t wait for those toy circulars to come, so you could circle all the things you wanted? Money was no object because Santa was leaving you everything you wanted under the tree. Then, you got older, had your own kids, and while you were still breaking out circulars, it was several different ones to circle all the back to school deals because you now had to count all your coins. Coins for the kid’s stuff and coins for the gas you were going to be wasting driving from store to store. Well, say hello to price matching.

You can bring in a circular (if you’re a rare breed who still gets the paper), pull up a website, you can even pull Dick’s Sporting Goods site to make sure you’re getting the best deal. You read that right, Dick’s will even price match it’s own website if you find an item for less while doing your virtual shopping. Just show the associate the image with a cheaper price and Dick’s will price match on the spot, giving you the lower price.

DSG | Great Quality, Great Price, Great Cause

Dick’s has you covered on book bags, lunch boxes, socks, shoes, and clothes. If your kids are anything like mine, athletic wear is on rotation. You can choose from the name brands you’ve come to know and love like Vans, Adidas, and Nike or you can introduce yourself to Dick’s brand new line, DSG.

DSG is Dick’s Sporting Goods’ private label line of athletic gear and apparel that debuted earlier this month. Ranging from $15 to $40, prices are bit more wallet-friendly than most of the larger name brands. They have items for the whole family too, ages 4 and up, so you can snag a few things for yourself while shopping for the kids and you don’t even have to feel guilty. Dick’s donates 1% of the DSG proceeds to their nonprofit, Sports Matter, which helps to save youth sports.

Free One-Hour Pickup

I woke up one day last week and realized I only have 1 summer left with my son and a yet to be determined amount with my daughter (she started high school this year but is wanting to graduate in 2). I don’t actually want to spend my time in stores looking around for the things I need or fighting large crowds of people. Luckily, Dick’s provides free one-hour pickup, so I can order my items before breakfast and grab them on the way to a summer picnic in the park. Now that’s time, and money, well spent.
