Keeping the Romance Going While Co-Parenting

romance, co-parenting, creating romance

When I moved to Fort Mill from Charlotte, we readjusted our schedule with the kids to alleviate the additional driving their father would now need to do during the week. We switched from alternating weeks to me having the kids all the time with the exception of every other weekend. As you can imagine, this makes for limited time for romance.

Nathan has always understood my children are my first priority, so he’s never complained when copious amounts of my time go to them. Even with that being the case, we still manage to carve out time for us, no matter how limited.

Morning Cuddle Sessions

We’ve developed a morning routine of turning on the news at 6:30 am and cuddling until Good Morning America comes on. It’s time to start getting ready at that point, but we will have had that physical touch, which I think helps to feel that closeness and get happy vibes going for the day.

Planned Date Nights

Tiffany Haddish isn’t the only one whipping out Groupons. We regularly check sites like Groupon and LivingSocial, not just for the great deals, but to see what new places are out that we may not know about. We try to look for a couple things in the same area (an activity and eatery) to group together for an exciting date night or day date. We do that about once a week.

Run Away From Home

Because we only have 4 days per month to ourselves (which actually isn’t accurate because Saturday is the only true childfree day in a childfree weekend for me), we try to make the most of them by traveling and enjoying new experiences together during that time. Sometimes we only leave the room to explore a new restaurant, but it’s still nice to have a change of scenery.
