5 Can’t Miss Spots for Disney Springs Happy Hour

—————————————-Updated 27 September 2020———————————-

Naturally, with Covid-19 happening, a lot of things have changed with restaurants and their offerings. On a recent trip to Orlando, I revisited my favorite Disney Springs happy hour spots to discover this was the case there as well … the changes to are shown in red. Since one of the listed places doesn’t have an actual “happy hour” per se, I’ve added a 6th restaurant that I got to try on this most recent trip.

——————————————————————————————————————–

Every time I go to Disney Springs, I’m in awe of all the new places that have popped up. When I first went in 2009, it was still known as “Downtown Disney” and I really only recall The House of Blues, Rainforest Cafe, and T-Rex Cafe. This could be because my kids were little at the time and they only cared about restaurants with animatronic characters. Since that time, there’s been a bit of a culinary explosion and I love doing what I like to call a Disney Springs Happy Hour Bar Hop in order to try them out without spending a mini fortune.

There were quite a few places on my list but it’s harder than you might think to hop around in the 2-3 hour happy hour window most restaurants allot. A few places used to offer a late-night happy hour in conjunction with the afternoon one but those seemed to be paused for the moment at many due to Covid-19. The ones who still do will be notated.

Cocktails at STK Steakhouse

Disney Springs happy hour
Lil’ BRG Burger and Truffle Fries

This was, by far, my favorite happy hour … or “social hour” as they like to call it. I’ve tried to make it every time I’m in Orlando but something always happens to prevent it – I miss out on the time, they’re closed for a private party, it wasn’t happening on that particular, etc … This past time, I was finally able to grab a seat and I couldn’t have been more impressed.

First off, they’ve extended their happy hour to be every day rather than select days as it was previously. Secondly, I enjoy a great cocktail and they have a really good selection to choose from. I got the Cucumber Stiletto and Strawberry Cobbler; for the latter, my Bartender suggested a mixed sugar/graham cracker rim and I would definitely recommend.

For lite bites, we did the Lil’ BRG (obviously meaning I cheated on my vegetarian eating for the night) and Truffle Fries with an order of Tater Tots.

  • Cucumber Stiletto – $8.50
  • Strawberry Cobbler – $8.50
  • Lil’ BRG and Truffle Fries – $5
  • Tater Tots – $5

Total spent: $38

STK Steakhouse does their social hour every day from 3 pm – 6 pm. Specialty cocktails are half-priced (making them $8.50 per cocktail) but if wine is more your speed, they have $10 Justin Cabernet and VieVité Rosé. Appetizers range from $2, $5, $7, or $8.

Multiple screens at Cityworks

Cityworks is the place to be if you like your happy hour with a side of sports. There are several screens spread throughout and bound to be showing whatever tickles your fancy … if that thing is sports. With all the TVs and, the many beers on tap, Cityworks is definitely the place to go if you’re looking for a sports bar in Disney Springs.

We got the Southern Fried Popcorn Chicken with Ranch Dressing and the Buffalo Chicken Dip. Both were great … so good, I forgot to grab a picture.

  • Southern Fried Popcorn Chicken with Ranch Dressing – $7
  • Buffalo Chicken Dip – $7

Total spent: $20.56

Cityworks has happy hour Monday through Thursday – 3 pm – 6 pm and offers $2 off local beers, cocktails and wine. Appetizers are available for $7.

Frontera Cocina Mexicana

We started out at Frontera Cocina Mexicana by famed Chef Rick Bayless. You’ve likely seen Frontera items at your local grocery store, which was my first experience with them. When my daughter and I went to Disney Springs in February, after running the Disney Princess race, I was super excited to see there’s an actual brick and mortar restaurant. She’s not a fan of Mexican, so this was my first chance to actually try them out.

We got a small array of appetizers to try and the food is exceptionally good! Though vegetarian, I do have the occasional bit of chicken or fish here and there when my body is feeling a bit low, and the Chipotle Chicken Flautas are an explosion of amazing in your mouth.

I’m a cocktail kinda gal and their drink selection was phenomenal! So much so that we definitely got some things that weren’t part of the happy hour special … La Cava Avocado, Mango Fire, Play with Fire … but were so good and well worth the $14-$15 price tag.

They do have some daily weekday specials as well, so check to see if any of those are happening while you’re there. It was Sangria Thursday on our day, where their Jamaica Sangria was only $5.

At the moment, Frontera is no longer offering food specials and there’s no longer a happy hour but there are all-day drink specials on certain days; Monday – $5 Margarita Clasicas;  Tuesday – $5 shots of Tequila; Wednesday – $6 Mezcal shots.

All day margaritas at Paradiso 37

Happy hour margarita and draft beer at Paradiso 37

Paradiso 37 has a convenient to go type window paired with an outside seating area that makes this happy hour pretty great. I actually went here two different times to try sitting inside at the bar and just going to the window. When you go inside you’re waited on a bit quicker because you’ve got a designated spot where they can’t help but see you. At the window, because there is no line, it’s a bit harder to get waited on unless you Debo your way in, and the outside seating is usually taken. As of September 2020, the window is pretty empty and seats are plentiful outside if you’d prefer to have a more open-air approach to your happy hour.

All that said, I still prefer the window. Once you grab your drink(s), you don’t need to sit down, you can take your cup and go exploring more of Disney Springs or off to the next happy hour spot if that’s your thang … we chose the latter.

Paradiso has $5 draft beers and $5 house margaritas every day, all-day.

Wine and people watching at Terralina

Half funghi, half sausage pizza and a glass of Moscato

If you’re looking to sit outside and people watch, this is your place. If you love pizza, this is your place. If you love wine, this.is.your.place.

Terralina’s happy hour takes place on their patio bar, which is conveniently located right in the corner, directly facing the traffic flow of passersby. We went during 4  – 6 pm and had a half Funghi, half Sausage pizza, which was just enough for the both us.  I’d say it’s about the size of a personal pizza, yet slightly bigger.

They have a vast selection of wines, so if you are a wine lover, you’re sure to find something you enjoy. If you love sweet wine as I do, they have one of the best Moscato wines I’ve ever had.

Terralina still holds happy hour from 4 – 6 pm daily but the evening one seems to be paused for now. Drinks are the same with $5 beers and 1/2 priced wines but they no longer offer 1/2 priced pizzas.

Music for the Soul at The House of Blues

Something that makes House of Blues happy hour really special is that it takes place most of the day, every day, and includes food and drinks. Is there really much more to say than that?

Disney Springs happy hour
Jalapeño Cornbread and Mac and Cheese Skillet

We tried the Jalapeño Cornbread and the Mac and Cheese Skillet. The cornbread was great, but I have to say, the skillet didn’t really taste like anything, so I’d likely go with something else next time.

Happy hour takes place from 11:30 am – 5 pm, everyday and again 10 pm – closing on Friday and Saturday. Diners can take advantage of $4 select domestic bottled beers, $5 select Imported Beers, $5 House of Blues Red Blend and Chardonnay Wines, and $5 Well Cocktails. There are also various
$6, $8, and $12 food specials available.

I love Disney Springs! So much so, that I really do enjoy flying to Orlando just to hang out at Disney Springs. New restaurants are popping up all the time and the food is always phenomenal. Something I’d like to do is a shopping trip since they have so many stores to choose from that I don’t have in Charlotte. Shopping and the new wine brunch with Dole Whip Mimosas at Wine Bar George!

Oh no! Frontera must have changed their happy hour since the last time I was there! I’ll make sure to update the post with those but changes – thank you for that information 🙂
